Sunday, June 9th Noon

G.A.S. members,
Scott is being gracious enough to hosting me around noon on Sunday for a listen to his systems. I asked him, but didn't know if any G.A.S. member who lives nearby has a slngle driver system, powered either by a nice tube amp, or one of those TriAmp setups.  That is something I have never heard properly implemented.  I know the system would be a far cry from what I refer to as a full system.  More intimate, best for cabaret, small jazz combos, and folk.  But that would tweak my interest.  I did buy the boards for the Pass F4, but have not even thought about starting that project, as my mentor has shelved everything since he got married and discovered 4 wheeling.
Yes, I was thinking of the F4 matched with that diy speaker, the Metronome using a hemp driver.

P.S. This is not an official G.A.S. gathering, as Scott is just being gracious to me, as we have tried to hook up twice before.

Hiya Guys,

Jamie, if your tee time falls though, buzz on by. Nothing new in house. I've been taking a bit of a break writing since I've been so busy at work. The only thing I've done is rearrange the listening room a bit pushing the listening hair back 2/3rds the way back in the room. I've pulled the OB's out to about 6 or 8 feet. It's a different listening experience, I kinda like it but I'm still experimenting. OB's room interaction are completely different than traditional speakers.

Looks like Sunday is going to be Lyndon and his friend Ironpsych. Steve K might be coming by too. Pretty much we'll just be spinning some vinyl, maybe playing a bit with the Altec's but more than anything I think Lyndon and Iron are interested in the sound of the Lowther OB's and a decent turntable.

If anybody is looking for something to do, you are more than welcome to make the trip out (as always).

Scott is the man!
I was always impressed that G.A.S. was formed quickly and has established itself.  I tried in vain these past ten years in Salt Lake to get something going, but perhaps it was the
Western attitude of solo mountain men, busy with their own pursuit of happiness.  Or, it was an 'audio dealer' who just wanted to form a list of possible
clients.  My favorite non-experience was inquiring to an 'invitation only' listening session to Wilson Audio in Provo.  They asked for a bank statement.
Also remember running into Ray Kimber at the local electronics shop.  Since last year, we have lost a great tube source, Salt Lake Instrument Company (I believe an Asian firm bought out their supply), and some other sources.  The best turntable man in the state was released from his job ( too old to have rapport with the current customer and no 'experience' with home theater) and has just disappeared off the face of the earth.
Sometime this summer, I do plan to visit Zu, and if Emerald has a showroom for their speakers, I would love to drive up to Park City and give a listen.

Scott is right about my wanting to listen to his amazing TT, but I hope to also have a chance to listen to his Squeezebox/hard drive setup, as that may be my next project next winter as well as my remote controlled 12b4 linestage setup.  I was just reading the thread about the Promethius time delay problems...how about one year plus with my Danish remote control board?

Scott,
Did you survive the storm? That twister must not have been too far west of you?
Kirkham at Elm in Webster was flooded, 4-6 inches of water on the road. Locals were out taking pictures like it never happened before.
I hope everyone weathered the storm OK? Too many of these lately!

Yep, sure did. It got pretty ugly here mid-afternoon. Strange part is, this mornings high winds snapped the top half a tree off in my yard but this afternoons rounds just made everything wet.
