Images from the Spitzer space telescope have just been released, these are coloured infra red images and are really massive. The images total to about 5 GIGApixels in size
and you can download each piece from here.

I've just finished downloading the very middle piece with the blue and it looks bloody awesome
Be careful although they are small jpg files they do take about 1gb of ram to actually open into memory.
Its mind blowing how many stars there are.
