Specs: http://caryaudio.com/products/classic/CAD211AE.html

wonderful, powerful sounding amps rated at 110WPC - these are said to be one of the top 5 amps in the world according to Robert Levi of Positive-Feedback dot com and will drive virtually any speaker. I would characterize the Cary sound as unique and one that is warm, life-like and very airy. Tonality and clarity are top notch. The Cary’s have plenty of headroom and perform like a pair of 500 watt transistor amps. They have considerably more power and headroom than their little brother, the 805’s. The Cary 211AE’s have gold speaker posts and Cary designs their 300B tubes which are overlaid with gold lettering. Further the Cary seals on the transformers are gold and of course the face plate is gold anodized and that coupled with the light from the 845 tubes creates a uniform appearance. I think the use of the gold is much more attractive and becoming of a world class product that retails for $16,500.00. I have attempted to portray this feature in the pictures. Check out the rave review in issue 11 of PFO among others. I've had these about 5 months and am the second owner. They are the current version and are virtually like new - the only thing I can find is the 4 ohm tap binding post backing is cracked - just a simple plastic piece that doesn't affect anything. The ONLY reason I'm selling is because I bought some Innersound electrostatic speakers that are a killer load and not recommended for use with tube amps - they work outstandingly with the Vandersteen 5A's. Included with stock tubes are 1949 Sylvania 6SL7/VT229 and Amperex 6CA7 (150-175 hrs), both pairs bought from Andy's Vintage tubes at $400 - great sound quality improvement! Stock tubes have about 400-500 hrs - according to Cary these amps are very easy on tubes and they should last a very long time.

These amps perform perfectly and are the best I've ever owned or used in my system. They will be shipped in their original wood crates plus double boxing to ensure safe delivery. They are very easy to bias(very stable bias too) and come with the Cary included bias meter. I have the manual etc... Local pickup prefered(just south of Jacksonville, FL) but I will ship at buyers expense - they are shipable via common ground (UPS, Fedex, DHL) - they weight 125 each in crates. Paypal prefered and will cover fee at full asking price - otherwise +3%.

Thanks

I remember you saying these were the best amps you have heard.  What could be better we wonder? :dunno:

They were with the 5A's but I just got some Innersound Kaya electrostats that drop to .9 ohm at 20K or something crazy like that - tube amps are not recommended.

I bought some Lamm M1.2 monos that are supposed to work very well with the Kaya.  I'll find out today ;)

What will you be using to drive your Innersound Electrostatics??

Oneobgyn is using them to power Alexandria's or Maxxes I believe with good results.

The Stereophile review of the Kaya's a couple years ago used the Lamm's too and with good results.  The only problem I may have is that the Lamm's are very sensitive and have lots of gain - that may not be the best match with the Cary SLP-005 preamp I'm using  :duh:

No matter how great a bottle of wine taste, at some point, you'll be looking for a different wine.

Tony, have you sold your Vandy 5A?
