Sad, he really was a great guy. Yes as a musician, but also as a person. You see, i lived in Gainesville/Newbury Florida and Bo had a home with a lil studio there, so he'd invite guys like me and my brother over for jam sessions. This was about a year or so after the Nike 'DO You Know Bo' commercial, that really vaulted him back into popularity and really helped him financially (he needed the cash, too, as guys like him got screwed by the labels way back when big time).

Anywho, great guy, great musicians, truly a sad loss.

Superbowl XXXIV came to Atlanta in 2000. Though I gave up watching NFL years ago (thank you Lions for curing that obsession) and wife never watched, the excitement of having Superbowl in our city was too much to ignore so we headed downtown to join in the fun. We ended up going to "Brunch with Bo". We gathered into an old church converted for music concerts where brunch was served on the main floor near the stage, all while Bo jammed away on stage - fantastic! He lit the place up with his growling vocals and guitar - very powerful.

Saw him at the Fillmore West in '70. Don't remember a lot, short term and now I guess long term memory loss , but I remember him appealing to the next generation with a song about lemonade and hash.  8)
