Weird settings on mid and treble pots

Playing around with mid and treble pots on my 626Rs... believe it or not, what is working pretty well for me is:

mid - 3:00
treble - 9:30

!!

Pretty bizarre, huh?

J,

are you still sticking w/ these settings? I experimented w/ my LRC last night and tried your settings and the result was pretty horrible. Voices sounded soo "chesty" it was hard to distinguish the words people were saying (well, maybe that's an exageration, but it didn't sound good!).

I'm curious, have you checked your output levels? Is a 11kHz tone playing 4-5 dbs lower than a 1kHz tone?

How many dbs do the pots attenuate (what's the db difference w/ the pots at 7 or 5)? I guess I could measure for myself, but I'm lazy.

Hey there,

No, I've returned to about 12 o'clock on both pots. But I've concluded that either there is something seriously wrong with my room, or else my ears have become insanely sensitive to sounds over 2 KHz.

Are the 626R's new speakers?

I found it took my ears a little time to get used to the detail and "authority" of the LRC, it really brought out the worst details of some of my gear and source material. In particular, the LRC really brings out every bit of distortion in cable TV broadcasts. I owned Paradigm Studio speakers before and they were much less detailed and a lot of the "crap" that exists in compressed audio was glossed over by the Paradigms.

For what it's worth, the 2kHz frequencies will be handled by the midrange panel, I believe the crossover of the 626R is ~ 7kHz, so you might want to dial down your mid pot? I've kept mine around 11:15-11:30 w/ the tweeter pot at 12:00-12:15
