Columbia - 2003 - Four disc box.
April 21-22, 1961 - these live sets are fantastic!  :thumb:
Extremely enjoyable music and superb audio quality, especially for live music.
No matter how much Miles you already have, no matter that you may have all/nearly all of these songs on studio recorded releases, this is a MUST have. This quintet cooks and redefines these songs as their own.
Miles, Hank Mobley (ts), Wynton Kelly (p), Paul Chambers (b), Jimmy Cobb (d).
Extraordinary reissue.

I agree!

I also highly recommed The Cellar Door Sessions 1970.

These 6 discs were condensed to create Live Evil great stuff

Amen. Hallelujah. And all that jazz ...
I must admit I was askeered (as they say in the NASCAR state of GA) to play "So What". After all, it's from KOB, sort of a combination of Genesis and Book of Revelations all-in-one of jazz releases (for me) - music blown of God's breath - a PERFECT album. (too much?)
Anyway, it swings! What a journey!

Now wait just a minute here!

After a few minor playing issues (CD pauses) with my crappy boom box at work (with broken headphones - no wonder I can't wait to get home and listen to my REAL rig) I inspected the discs and three of the four appeared to have some sort of manufacturing defect. So I took them to Barnes and Noble for an exchange and now this set also has similar defects.

Upon close inspection on one disc I see a dimple-like shape or bump pressed into the CD as if done from the label side. (I believe discs are manufactured this way, by a stamping process from the label side - not 1's and 0's, but flats and troughs of various lengths, whose leading and trailing edges are interpreted as 1s and 0s). And another disc has a dimple and a 1/4 inch groove (raised on the plaiyng side so I assume troughed on the label side). Dammit Janet! Not again?!

Inspecting the few other CDs I have with me I don't see any defects like this.

Anyone else experience these kind of defects?

No. Just seems to temporarily confuse the player.
Haven't noticed these issues at home but not paying that close attention.
