Too many to mention, I keep a collection of R&B, soul especially for this purpose. It is a must have for me. At this point doing it in silence would feel strange to me (maybe for a bit but not all the time.)
Barry White, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, Prince, Keith Sweat, Maxwell (including a excellent remake of Kate Bush's " A Woman's Works"... These are all staples for me. Marvine Gaye's "I Want You" 2 CD remaster is just perfect. A collection of Prince's slow songs, including the "Scandalous - Sex Suite" is stellar.
Art of Noise - Moments is Love is stellar.
Sade - Stellar, Stronger Than Pride in particular is mellow groovin for me
Some Will Downing - Pleasures of the Night
Just too many to draw from but those are some of my basics. One of the only Rock songs I ever felt comfortable with was "Fell Like Makin' Love" by Bad Company, it's soft yet manly and the chorus is just perfect thrust music. There's a number of nice eletronica songs that are stellar with the throbing bass beats, this is something that can be truly other worldy. Tones of jazz ballads that a just great. This is something we take very seriously in my house. It's the reason I have a 400 disc CD changer in the bedroom.
Anyone stuck on on a diet of just rock songs is really missing out. IMO, soul stuff is a no brainer, but find some mellow electronica type stuff and you're wife may feel like you just got a new Harley. Actually, if you just want to go simple down this path just get a couple of
Enigma CD's and you are in business (might just be all you need), excellent stuff that can take you to another place.
If you don't have it get Shaft - "After Midnight"
