I made my Mother-In-Law cry.....
« on: 14 May 2008, 01:36 am »
Granted it was Mother's Day and she had a glass of wine or two, but she sat down and listened to my rig for the first time and I fired up Mary Fahl - The Other Side of Time - Una Furtiva Lagrima for her.  Per my instructions, she kept her eyes closed while listening, then opened them up midway through the song and wiped her eyes and told me "I'm not crying, these are emotional tears, not crying tears!", then proceeded to listen to the rest of the song.

My Father-In-Law asked me not to tell anyone he teared up during Jacinthas version of Danny Boy (his name is Dan, and his Mom used to sing the song to him as a kid), so I wont mention that.

Bottom line...... It really is a special, emotional and personal moment to hear well recorded music on a good system.  I'm not tooting horns, just grateful for what I have, and that I can share music as it deserves to be heard.

My hat's off to Jim Salk, Gary Dodd, and Klaus Bunge for great listening experiences.

Yep, Mom (87) & I listened to Sinatra and Belafonte LPs from 1958 & '59. She said "It sounds like he's in the room" and was singing along with the music - nice.   :D

Hey!

Congratulation Mark for able to make your Mother-in-law cry.... well that was in a good way

Yeah, I love it when I had non-audiophile people like friends, and family over. I even managed to put my boss in my sweet spot also. I love to watch their expressions when they are listening to my system especially with the music they know. :D

Than I will wait for them to say things like "Wow, I've never heard that song like that before" :D

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:
