Double Ugly

This is a short-notice request for assistance, so maybe if a *THE* guy or gal exists, one of you who knows them will help me find them.

Long story short, my current TV (Sammy DLP w/ ISF calibration by Chad; looks great!) may be going away soon and I need to find a suitable replacement soon.  Currently I have my eye on a Pioneer Elite 60" Kuro Plasma, but as it requires a healthy chunk of change, I'd like to find the best deal possible from a reputable reseller.

I have a guy in Chicago who got me a pretty good deal on the Sammy a few years ago, but there's no guarantee he'll be able to do the same with this.  And this quote from the AVS Forum -

Quote
OK, first off, thanks to Roman@Invision for his friendly and fast service. In the door for ~75%MSRP ain't too shabby either!

... was potent enough for a double take, but my first Google search didn't leave me confident I can find either Roman or Invision.  Maybe he's *THE* guy, maybe not, but if someone here has a contact who may qualify for *THE* status, I'd surely appreciate your assistance.  For all I know, *THE* guy will tell me Plasma is dead (thanks, Bob ) and point me towards the right purchase.

Thanks in advance.

Roman started up his own company and is the real deal when it comes to plasmas.

His new company is buybestplasma.  Do a web search and you'll find him.  (not sure I can post direct links here)

He is also a forum sponser over at AVSforum.  Check out the plasma area.  He goes by Roman O

As far as Kuro panels, you may be able to find the Elites still but the base Kuros 4280/5080 are no longer available as the new 9G Kuros are set for release anytime now.

Hope that helps

Double Ugly

Thanks, Norman, I'll see what he has to say.

Anyone else, or is Roman the one and only *THE* guy?

I picked up a 6070HD from Roman last August. Everything went smooth as silk . . .  even a great trucker who delivered and helped me get the beast into my house and down the steps. Talked to Roman a couple of times on the phone and emailed back and forth. Good guy, I may be ordering another piece for a relative soon . . .

You could try Coza, Inc - an authorized Pioneer dealer. I got a good price/service from them. Phone (888-683-8564).

Thanks Mike and Frank.  I spoke with Roman this morning and after discussing current and future options, I've pre-ordered a Pioneer Elite Kuro PRO-151FD (60").

Thanks again to all for your recommendations and assistance.

I sure hope you're right, Mike.  It makes me a little jittery to commit so much to someone I don't know for something I've not seen, but he seems to have a very solid rep among the videophiles on AVS.

First post here!

Im willing to buy the Pioneer Elite Kuro PRO-151FD.

Anyone know the general price range???

Double ugly if you do not mind me asking how much did you pay for your Pioneer Elite Kuro PRO-151FD?

Also would you be able to put me in contact with the salesman you bought your Pioneer Elite Kuro PRO-151FD from?

I live about 20 miles out of chicago and want to get a Pioneer Elite Kuro PRO-151FD  as soon as it comes out.

Therefore i wouldnt mind reserving one today even.

If you get a chance please let me know.

Thanks.

~Jerry.

Hi Jerry,

I don't believe Pioneer has announced the price yet, but I'm told it will be no more than last year's retail ($6500), maybe less.

The salesperson in Chicago from whom I purchased my last set failed to respond (again), so I no longer recommend him.  Conversely, Roman @ Buy Best Plasma.com was patient, helpful and accommodating, and he is the gentleman I suggest you contact.  Let him know that Double Ugly guy sent you.

I just checked with him  :).

Any way you could pass me the phone number and name on that guy in chicago???

I would like to check with him as well to see if there is a price difference.

I checked with roman and he says he doesnt have a price yet.

However he told me shipping would be around $200.

If the guy in chicago could give me a better deal though than i would just buy it off of him.

Thank you very much for your help double ugly!

I won't guarantee he'll answer your call or respond to voicemails, but I'll send the info to you via PM momentarily.
