Announcing: The VMPS 626Jr SDE version $1775pr

Today we make available a Special Digital Edition of the 626Jr with the Megawoofer upgrade for $1775pr plus shipping including a preprogrammed DCX 2496.  Biamping is required, but as I pointed out in an earlier thread, four high quality channels of amplifieation are now obtainable for cheap, starting with our recommended entry level Behringer A 500 pair of stereo amps for $598 total.

MlS satin black and Bud Bailey oak cabinet finishes are included at this  price.  We will make mls rosewood, walnut, and piano black versions available for $400pr additional, and the upgrade to the FST is also $400pr.

This brings a new age of digitally crossed over and digitally corrected speakers to a price point just about any audiophile can handle.

Hey Brian,

In the various VMPS digital incarnations are the midrange and tweeter still passively crossed over?

If so, is that choice made to limit the number of amp channels per speaker to two or because a passive mid/tweeter crossover is better sounding than an active one?

All of our SDE speakers are threeways but I wanted to avoid the pain and expense of triamping.  Biamping is burden enough for most people.

To this end I developed the "Digilog" configuration where the tweeter runs in parallel with the midrange with a passive highpass filter in series with the tweeter only.  This integrates perfectly with the directly crossed-over mid thanks to the EQ features of the DCX2496. We also use the DCX EQ to compensate for the treble rolloff of the constant directivity waveguide, giving flat FR with 180 dispersion.  It's quite a spectacular sound.

So, with the SDE speakers the tweeters are no longer dehorned?

No, SDE speakers have the CD compensation done electronically and tweeters are not dehorned.  If you have dehorned tweeters and want to go biamp and do digital eQ we compensate for the dehorning in the DCX.
