Bought this off an AC member last month. It is at least 75 wpc into 8 ohms, best I can gather (I may be understating). Regular amp dimensions (17x10x4.5), front and top refinished in matte black for a much more 'complete' look than Tim's usual work. Small hickeys on the top plate, front is very good. Rather large heatsinks so it runs fairly cool, only a little above room temperature.
This is a bit of a fixer-upper amp for someone who knows his stuff. There is a slight hum in one of the channels that is there regardless of what I do with the rest of the system. Note this is with 100 db efficient speakers. As I have said before, I don't know solder from soldier, but when I asked Tim Rawson what it might be due to, here is most of his reply:
"reflow some solder on the board ... by reflow solder mean that drill holes not high precision given home made boards thus sometimes component solder joints to traces not best - more or less remelt/flow solder to ensure good connection." This is Tim's best guess based on description and pictures I provided to him.
Also per Tim, the amp contains opa549 chips (which are "expensive compared to the lm3886tf gainclone chipamps)) and a beefy power supply, which alone cost him $75-100 back a year or two ago.
If you follow all that then you might be a good candidate for this amp!
If you can do the troubleshooting/work, more power to you. You will end up with a great sounding amp for peanuts. Will provide pics to interested buyers but please accept the issue above before inquiring to save everyone's time. The amp really does look and sound good, even with the hum, which in general should not be audible at regular listening distance with music playing.
$old plus shipping, as is but packed well to make it to your home the way it leaves me. It is a tad heavy, so figure $25-$35 FedEx ground, depending on distance from Atlanta. Payment by USPS MO or Paypal ok IF paid with funds (no CC). My feedback on Audiogon:
