How warm should by D200's be when on?
« on: 7 May 2008, 04:09 pm »
So with the arrival of some EVS Ultimate Attenuators from Ric Schultz, I've started using my CIA D200's some more.  What I'm wondering is, how warm is normal for these amps?  When I put my hand on the top of the amp its slightly warm, but the aluminum plate on the back of the amp (which seems to be the primary heatsink) is close to to temperature of the outside of a coffee cup with a hot cup of coffee or tea in it.  Is this normal?  I haven't used the D200's in a while but I don't recall them being this warm.

That sounds about right...
The heatsink will get warm but not hot. It is somewhat dependant on the speaker load and line voltage.

Thanks Dusty.  Whats going on with the D500's?  Haven't heard about them in a while but am certainly looking forward to them.  I know you showed them at a high end show not too long ago but I take it those were still prototypes.

The D-500's require many custom manufactured parts, and some of them have taken longer than expected to get in production quantities. They'll be available very soon, and we'll post photos and info here first!
Sorry for the delays, but we won't ship them until we feel they are good as they can be...it'll be worth the wait!
