Here's a heads up . We are having a McIntosh event here at the Creve Coeur location of The Sound Room. It's on Thursday 15th starting at 4pm and runs until 7pm. There will be factory reps on hand to do presentations. Free your calendars up and come on over. Food and drinks will be on hand.

Remember when the McIntosh people used to run tests on amps the public brought in?

I had my old Technics integrated tested at a McIntosh event.  Those were fun and I still have the measurements paper from 1982.

Those were the good old days, I remember one too, might have been at the old Best Sound?

Thanks Tim,
I enjoyed the event, Mac gear everywhere!
Good to meet Scott and Bryan too!
Wish I could have stayed longer!

Great event! :thumb:

Now I must figure out where to get a cool 100K to be able to afford all those nice goodies!

Thanks for the invite Tim!  Tim, Bryan, Steve & Laura, it was good to see you all again!

 Someone drove away from the event in a fancy shmancy White AMG Mercedes SL. I wonder who that was...?

Great seeing everybody again  :thumb:

Heres a couple of crappy pics I took from my phone.

Here is the full Mac system, Line Array Speakers, mondo tube amps, tubed pre, music server, DAC and turntable

Heres a pic of the Mac TT. Notice the Blue analog meter on the front that shows speed

and the 300wpc KT88 monoblocks

I didn't get any pics of the 1.2KW monoblocks driving the B&W's. I swear, the Blue meters were the size of a sheet of notebook paper. You could almost hear the meter needles whooshing back and forth, they sere so big.

That's all for now.....the tube system was amazing.  Ihad never heard tubes before.

Hi David,

Welcome to the GAS site here at AC  :thumb:  Tell you what, if you liked what you heard at the Sound Room, you need to make the rounds to everyones place. Trust me, you'll get a really good feel for what tubes are all about when you finish  :D

I'll have to do that...I'm only 16, so that'll be hard, as my mother will not let me drive... :bawl:

I am now pouncing on every single piece of tube gear that I have a line on.  I am also looking at what I can sell to FINANCE upgrades....first to my TT and then to my Onkyo TX-4500 receiver....

Tim,
Excellent time at the McIntosh clinic.  Sorry I had to run to the rehearsal.  Still not sure how they can get 300 watts out of the Kt88 amp and run that cool.  I have preamps that put out more heat.  Wish I could have heard the vinyl rig a little longer before they put on the Telarc Roundup Cd in the music server.   Lord help me, but I love those meters.  I want big blue meters.  You know, meters telling me how fast my cd player is spinning, how many millivolts my cartridge is outputting etc.  They are just the coolest.  Thanks to Scott for the "something for you in my trunk".  I'll wire it up this weekend and see if it has 5 volts associated with it.  Again thanks to Tim for a great time and I hope I won the McIntosh book drawing.   :D
