equalizer plugin for iTunes?

can anyone suggest a more comprehensive EQ than the stock iTunes?  Something with a feature set like the Behringer DEQ1024 would be interesting.

With the ever expanding offerings of DACs and amps with USB inputs, it would make for a very streamlined tool for DIY speaker builder, or anyone with a stable of multiple speakers in their audio only system.

Hi Crisby,

I have to totally agree with you - a better equalizer than  the standard one is the most desirable feature that I would like to see to improve iTunes.  I too have searched and searched but found nothing suitable.  I have been watching your post in the hope that there would be some magical answer appearing.... but  alas not so!   This i am rather surprised at,  given that there are apps for just about everything you could want and usually someone to tell you where to get it....

It WILL happen I am sure.... lets just hope thats it sooner rather than later!

I have Parallels installed, and so far have only one "critical" app running there - I'd hate to have to use an XP based music program like Foobar etc, just for the EQ.  If it came to it, I'd probably rather use an outboard hardware solution, particularly one sporting a USB or optical input.

Be nice if there were a version of this for OS X

I've just downloaded a demo of HiJack Pro and at least 3 freeware AudioUnit EQ plug-ins. I haven't tried it yet, but the way it is supposed to work is to pipe the output from iTunes thru HiJack out to the USB DAC (or whatever). HiJack supports & accesses AU plug-ins (including, i understand, a 31 band EQ already built into OS X)

If this solution works then it will cost $32 to register HiJack Pro... it also opens up access to zillions of AU plug-ins.

There is:

thanks,  Rick;  I'm playing with the demo version right now - certainly user friendly enough. Not completely transparent in bypass, but a good start.   I'll have to hook up the Kingrex and some real speakers to evaluate.

Thanks, - the initial spec list looks much better - none of the (silly)  toys and effects of the Hear.

Joe Soft  :thumb: I have been running the Joe Soft for a few days now and I must say, not bad. You can tweak a large number of settings and it really did make my open baffles sound better. Smoother bass, and cleaned up the top end not so bright.
