"Self-Portrait"
« on: 3 May 2008, 01:12 am »
Hey!

   Inspired by JohnR's "Anemone self-portrait" post. :D

Here is my a bit more traditional self-portrait.

Usually I prefer to be behind the camera. But somehow I ended up with a few pictures of myself in bathroom mirrors... and not just my own bathroom at home.  :icon_lol:

There is something about seeing myself in bathroom mirror and sometime it just happened that I have a camera with me.   Sometime I guess I like to see myself with my camera... don't you?

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:

Buddy,

Is that a Sony digicam you are holding ? I am thinking about buying a compact digicam, and I would like to hear your reasonings in selecting the digicam.

Hey!

I rarely talk about cameras I use but here goes....

No, but close. It is actually a Minolta X1 :D I said close because now Sony took over Minolta and every new Sony cams today share technologies that Minolta have. :D

Why this cam? Well, I was looking for an ultra compact digicam to carry around in late '05. This fit the bill nicely for me with nice lens, zoom range, non-protruding zoom and the "Anti-shake" is a plus. Also another factor was that I love the way it looks and feel.... this little cam feel very sensual to me. :D

Here is a little info on it...

http://ca.konicaminolta.com/products/consumer/digital_camera/dimage/dimage-x1/index.html

And I found this review from Shutterbug...

http://www.shutterbug.com/equipmentreviews/compact_digicams/0106konica/

The size was a big factor for me when I was looking for a compact digicam. It doesn't make any sense for me to buy compact digicam that is slightly smaller than my DSLR right? If that is that case I would have just carry my DSLR around.

With it small size comes limited functions and yes... quality compared to my DSLR. Performance wise this 'lil cam is OK, nothing spectacular . Michael/SunnyDay if you are looking for one that would do action or quick candid than this is not the one... but than again I can't think of any this size that would do justice with these types of photography anyway. But of course newer cousins of this 'lil cam from Sony are better now today.

As for me I like this little digicam. It is more like a photographer's camera to me. It is a bit noisy by today's standard but the noise from this camera doesn't bother me much and strangely enough I like the way it look once converted to B&W.... the noise becomes more like film grain. :D

I might check out new tiny digicam like these someday... likely Sony... but for now this works fine for me.

Here are some of pictures from this 'lil cam...

Well, there are a few more on my Flickr.com space. Maybe you could guess which pictures are from this camera?

Maybe I will see you at the Rave and we could definitely talk about camera more. :D
