The BD-1 is the transport...right, James?

When will it be released/available?

HI,

We are looking at transports now but it will be at least a year away.  Our plan is to have the Drive integrate with the BDA-1 outboard DAC we are introducing next month.

James, will this transport be just a BCD-1 without the analog circuitry? I think you should take into consideration the possibility for this transport to also read discs with hi res audio files on them like WAV, FLAC, WMA etc because the hi res download sites are becoming more and more popular. So if I download some 24/96 FLAC tracks or albums it would be good to be able to burn them on a blanc DVD an play them through the Bryston transport.

NIN for example is offering its latest album as a hi res free download just to thank the fans who supported their choice of distributing their music through the internet.

I still haven't figured out how to do that yet - how about I send you a PDF drawing of the back and front and you post it?

James thats very simple. You must upload the image to an image hosting website ( www.picoodle.com ) and after you upload it, paste the link you obtain between the [img] marks inserted by pressing the icon with the red frame under the I sign.

If I use picoodle - it says Invalid Image Type - its a PDF?

If you have a scanner, you can always print a pdf and save it as a jpeg

This is better using the Bryston jpeg :D

So, here's the layout:

BACK:
Left to Right: Balanced/Unbalanced Analog Out, SPDIF Out, USB, AES/EBU, SPDIF-4 thru SPDIF-1, Opto -2 & 1, Trigger, RS-232, Power Inlet

FRONT:
Left to Right: Logo  :D, Sample Rate indicators, Upsample switch, and then Opto-1 & 2, SPDIF-1, 2 3, & 4, AESEBU & USB selectors and finally power switch.

Thanks Keith,
so there is no I2s. I thought that was what was needed to reclock a signal?

I don't know much about that stuff  However, if it is envisioned in the future that the Bryston drive would link to the DAC for clocking, would that require a modification to the DAC at some point since there appears to be no 'clock cable input', for lack of a technical term? Maybe that's the same thing Mike is asking?

Hi,

The Clock Out does not show on the drawing - it will be next to the SPDIF out.
The Clock out connector will be added later when we implement the word clock option on the Pro version.

Hi Keith,

Yes when we release the Drive we will clock it back to the BDA-1 through the Clock connector. The BDA-1 is a modular design so changes in the future will be easily made.

Your closest Bryston authorized dealer would be the place.

BTW, I'm like you, I run a Squeezebox (ordering a Duet today) and I have preordered the DAC.

Hi Mike,

If you mean the Pro version with the clock out - no sorry we have not even started to look at that yet. Once we have decided on which External Drive we will use -- then we will integrate the BDA-1 DAC to work with the new CD Drive and release it as a 2 piece CD product.

As far as a developing a Clock option for the Pro version that is still a long ways away.
