http://www.audioadvisor.com/store/productdetail.asp?sku=DMSPICAW&product_name=TC-60%20Speakers%20in%20Walnut%20Finish%20-%20Pair%20--%20DEMO

Pair of Spicas being sold as a "demo" but they haven't been made for a number of years (all the reviews mentioned are from 1995 timeframe).

from what I remember, Audio Advisor found a number of brand new TC-60s sets in the warehouse of a dealer after all these years, and bought all of it to sell to their customers.

TY,  During the 80's and 90's there was always a buzz about the Spicas in different publications. They seemed to follow in the steps of the Advent speakers. I think that Spicas had a TC-50 model at that time also. ( So much equipement, so little time. :? ).

I remember the Spica line somewhat--the TC-50 started things off, TC-60 and the Angelus followed.

I tried to audition the TC-50's once at a local dealer who carried the line, but was informed they COULDN'T open the boxes just so I could hear them--I was supposed to buy them on reputation alone at full retail price.

I bought the tc-50 in 1986 on listening to it the first time at my dealer's large main demo room (which I still have as my backup speakers).

That speaker blew me away when I heard USA for Africa's 'We are the World" when I brought my Counterpoint sa 7.1 pre to my dealer back in '86 to listen. It was connected with a c-j mv-50, linn sondek tt w/ittok arm, randall research i/c & spkr cables (no subs).

I could 'see' a stage with risers for the chorus members and the sound extended to like 15' to the sides of each speaker (not kidding!).

The original Spicas were noted for their imaging/soundstage (as I remember).  There was also that Kinergetics system that added a pair of subwoofers/stands and amps to fill out the bottom end.

I've been kicking myself for years for selling my TC-60's, which I had hooked up to a pair of Quicksilver 25 watt monoblocks. This is tempting. Wonder what "demo" means...are they new in a box or what?

From the Audio Advisor ad----"We originally sold out of the TC-60 several years ago. But a supplier recently discovered a number of pairs that he had set aside for friends and family members. So now he's offering the Spica to us for a final rock-bottom closeout deal that's just too good to miss."

I'm guessing they're unused  and in a box, but you could contact them to make sure.

Hmm. Despite what the ad states, over the phone AA told me they were "returns" fully warranteed by Parasound.

That's probably why there are NOS/demo models still floating around.

Sometimes stuff just does not sell, short of giving it away.

Eg. A local dealer has had a pair of the old Genesis IM-5200, 2 -way mini -trashcans, since about 1990...and some really old Grado headphones.
