Baffled By The Bugle And Piccolo Combo.
« on: 26 Apr 2008, 12:31 am »
Hello,

Please help me.  I cannot figure out why this thing sounds so good!

The Bugle is in the bottom box with Bugle PSU (Red LED for the PSU and Blue for the Bugle ).  The pusher is this guy........

Piccolo set at 100 ohm/26 dB gain.

The truth is, I was contemplating to sell both since I do not use them often and have some down time today and decided to have a shot for a last listen, but I made my decision for now.  They will stay!

Tried the Piccolo with Cornet2 and Trumpet before, in my system, with an SUT is better.  Tried the Bugle with SUT, never missed the sound of that combo.

Happy listening all ya!   :D :D :D

regards,

Abe

It's a multiple choice answer!!

a) there's so many wires, they cancel each other out!
b) electrical "madness" always sound good!
c) you properly built a Bugle and Piccolo, 2 excellent products!!

My vote is c!!!!

PS: what cart are you running?

Abe,

I'm running a C2/Piccolo combo with an SME IV UWE SS103R.  What are the benefits of the Cinemag over the Piccolo?  I've not compared the two.  I'm happy with the sound of this combo & the Piccolo is dead silent.  I used the Dale Vishay RN's in the Piccolo & I've thought about upgrading the RCAs.  My solder iron is ready for a new project & I've considered building A Cinemag SUT.

The SUT sounds better to me, that's all.  I do not know how to describe it but if I am going to use "audiophile" jargon here, I will say that my Cornet 2 has a bigger "soundstage" (whatever that be!) and deeper bass with an SUT than a headamp.
