BENEFITS & IMPROVEMENTS:Compared to the original L70530, L80229 is sonically similar but much improved in almost all respects, and here's some important aspects of the L80229 cable.
- Increased body and solidness of sound.

Increased body and solidness:L70530 already did it very well and sound comes out in a very well focused and solid fashion, IeGO engineer took advantage of that and further improved the solidness of sound and gave it even better overall thickness in sound.
Detail with smoothness:Some may have you believe that you can either have detail or smoothness, and when you pick detail, you will get the details coming at you with daggers and grinders that is ready to stab and grind you with their harshness. If you pick smoothness, then they would have you believe that everything will be blurred out to the point that it would be hard to makeout any details, just like trying to see through dense fog.
That may be true for some products, however it does not apply to IeGO's line of products. With advanced manufacturing and design capability, they have managed to create a cable that delivers rich details that sounds perfectly smooth and soothing.
Large, realistic sound stage:L80229 also provides a large and realistic sound stage that is not only wide and open, but also expands it vertically. It will not make your favorite Jazz artist sounds like they've just took over some enormous concert hall, but it will make sound spacious with excellent imaging.
Excellent ambiance, perfectly natural decay of instruments and voice.With proper ambiance and natural decay of sound, everything will sound more life like. A note does not stop when the musician stops it, but slowly decays down with a little trail. Without it, the sound will become hard and emotionless, and that would not happen with this cable.
Extended frequency response and controlIf high frequency response is clipped, the sound will become muffled, if mid frequency is lacking, then the sound will become thin and a bit hollowed out, and if the bass response is clipped, the sound will become lopsided and unnatural. Which is why this cable was designed to work well in all audio frequency and beyond, providing extended frequency response and excellent control of sound. Not too little, and not too much.
JARGON WARNING:L80229's gauge is slightly heavier(appox 12AWG) than L70530, however the main difference is the inclusion of pure silver strands as well as alloyed strands now contain vastly increased silver content (more strands now have more silver in the alloy content), and all alloy containing copper will also get 1% instead of 0.1% gold alloyed. As usual, copper are all sourced from Furukawa then process into shape or alloyed.
Cutout of L80229, note that there are 6 individually insulated strands plus 3 runs of heavier gauge silver plated gold/copper alloy wire per each hot or neutral. In addition to the complex alloy and individual insulation, the wire bundle is then wrapped up in cotton to fill up the voids (note the white fuzzy wrappings on each bundle0 and make the entire bundle cylindrical before sent to be made into a cable. Then 2 runs of the complex (hot and neutral) and one run of the simpler cable (ground) is then bundled up again, and again all void are filled with lots of cotton to make the bundle cylindrical. The now cylindrical is then wrapped with copper foil shield and very supple PVC skin make it into the final L80229.
Of course, as usual, all strands are continuously casted via IeGO's exclusive PUM-OCC for the longest crystal and highest purity. All done to stretch the performance to even higher levels..
IeGO have informed me that even their PVC is of fairly high quality, thus it is about as supple as PVC can get. I have to concur with that as it is so supple that it felt like you are twisting a much thinner cable.

PRICING & OPTIONS:Since this is a much upgraded cable compared to the original L70530 series, we thus change the cable that we will stock accordingly. Instead of the more affordable 8055 (Pure Furukawa copper) or 8065 (Pure Furukawa copper + silver plating), we will stock it with:
8075BU (Pure Furukawa copper + Rhodium plating)

Add $45 per each 0.5 meter of cable if you want custom length, shorter length also available upon request, but I personally don't recommend anything shorter than 1.5M. Cable too short are hard to use and hard to sell second hand when you are thinking about upgrading.
The housing of the plug is now transparent blue (as undoubtedly anyone would have noticed without me saying
), to better identify this cable from the L70530 due to both cable have the same color.
We will still offer the cable with 8055/8065 connectors with either clear, transparent blue or black housing, but it will be on a by-order basis (which means it takes about 7 days before we can ship it). As we feel that L80229 is better paired with 8075/8085/8095 that will have both components compliment each other.
