I have a home pc desktop with an internal Seagate 320 GB HD and an external Seagate 500 GB FreeAgent HD for regular backup. I use Windows XP OS. Around the Holiday season I subscribed to Windows Live One Care service for virus, and maintenance stuff.
Everything appeared to be clicking along fine with the monthly back up to my outboard HD until it got full. Apparently as the multiple backups have occurred, they are not writing over the older previous versions. Plus all the data gets backed up as little compressed packets. I have attempted to delete the older backup folders to make room but get an error message that the files cannot be deleted. I am set up as the admin for the computer so that shouldn't be an issue.
I am struggling to figure out if this is a Seagate freeagent backup software issue or some setting with the Windows live one care. I think when I installed the Seagate drives they default to use their backup protocols. Could this be some conflict between the two systems and neither having precedence? Should I reorganize to confirm & establish one master method?
Just wondering if anyone has encountered a similar quagmire? My next step is to attempt to call the tech support maze.
