Garage system
« on: 21 Apr 2008, 03:45 pm »
Hello,

I just purchased a new house and have a family room, but not a dedicated stereo room. The family room will have the family stereo in it. I'm not putting my tube amp and TT on top of the TV.

I think I can put my dedicated two Channel system system in the garage and make it work. Unfortunately the house is bi-level and does not have a basement.

Does anyone else have their main system in the garage?

In the midst of inspections and other crap this is what I'm thinking about.

Dennis,
Congratulations! I just bought a home as well. I don't have my stereo in the garage (at least it hasn't been pushed there yet!), but depending on where you live I might be concerned about temperature/humidity changes. I know my garage here gets very cold in the winter and very warm/humid in the summer. Not sure what gear you have either, but more sensitive gear might not like those conditions. I also have a bad habit of leaving the garage door open when we're home but not using the garage, and I'd hate to have thousands $$ of equipment(or tens of thousands? depends on what you've got) sitting out there in the open.

Eric,

Good points. I didn't think about temp, humidity, etc.

The garage doors are on the side of the house. It may be pretty difficult to see inside. I'll have to see when I get in there.
