Hi,  I'm new here.  In fact, I'm new to audio DIY.  I just bought kits to build a Bugle and PS, including all necessary parts.  I'm wondering what are the best sources for the rest of the parts needed to build a finished piece, such as switches, cabinet mount RCA jacks, fuse holders, IEC connectors, etc.?  I looked at Parts-Express, but the selection is limited.  On the other hand, Allied has about 20 pages of things like RCA jacks.  Is their one source for good quality parts to complete such a project without knowing mfr. part numbers in advance?

Also, I'd like to add an LED.  What voltage do I need?  Where can I find a nice LED in a housing for the front panel of a box?

BTW, I don't need a chassis.  I'll make one.

Any 3mm or 5mm LED of any color will work fine, but I suggest get the lowest luminance one available.  As for IEC and fuse holder, Digikey Q205-ND has integrated fuse holder.  So you can find all the parts from Digikey, except for nice panel mount RCA jacks and good quality signal wires from Takefiveaudio.com (but they can easily be found from elsewhere).  I didn't use any fancy internal wires otherwise.

No I don't have part number for that rocker switch.  I found it in my parts box.  I do recall that I ordered it from Digikey not long ago.  Anyways, either look through Digikey online catalog or just go pick one from your local electronics parts store (Ratshack?).

Digi-Key is just so damned difficult to use.  First, they don't have that part #.  Then I searched for IEC connectors and got over 2500 hits, all different kinds of connectors I've never seen before.  I don't know where to start.  I sure don't want to look at 2500 connectors, then try to find a switch.  There must be 4,000 of those.  Is there somewhere else to look?

I'm working on a few things and got some parts from http://www.allelectronics.com/.  They are pretty easy to get around, and have at least the basics.

The Digikey catalog is a lot easier to use than the online store unless you know what you want and can efficiently apply the filters.
That said, Michael Percy is a great source for everything you might need and the selection ranges from inexpensive to high zoot.

Huh?  I just tried using Digikey online ordering tool and entered Q205-ND and quantity of one.  No problem at all.  What did you do what your attempt ordering?

I went to the website and searched for Q205-ND.  They couldn't find anything matching my search.

At www.digikey.com, I just tried search for that part and the result turned up.  I don't know why it doesn't turn up for you.  You can also use the online ordering tool.  It lets you enter the part number and quantity.  You can use the description of the returned part to search similar parts.

Round, rectangular, large, small, red and green.

Q205-ND     ....will work at digikey. make sure you put in the dash and everything exactly.....all capital letters.......etc......this is a legitimate part number for an ac power connector.
