Okay now I'm a litle confused. Been doing some reading on the Candela about how the phase is inversed (that right?) so you should switch the speaker cable at the speakers so positive is connected to negative and vice versa. Then I was reading something else that said this isn't the case for HT/SACD/DVD-A?

I'm currently using a Toshiba SD-9200 for both redbook and SACD (I know another future upgrade) going from the 2 channel ouput of the Tosh into the CD Input of the Candela.

I really don't want to have to change the speaker cables everytime I watch a movie or listen to music as I'm using spades and it's a pain. Can someone further explain this situation to help a newbie understand?

Thanks!

Mike

Mike:

I would recommend that you send AlexG a PM for his comments and recommendations about the Candela Phase.  What I personally would do is connect the SCs in the correct phase for two channel and not worry about it if it happens to be out of phase for HT.  I don't think you will ever notice the difference in sound with HT anyway.

You earlier asked a question about differences in the sound between the Amperex Bugle Boys and the RCA Cleartops.  I cannot answer because I never tried a pair of Clear Tops.  I used the Teslers that came with the Candela for awhile, put in the Bugle Boys, later swithed to Telefunkens, then tried Mullards and went back to the Bugle Boys.  The Mullards have a warm, very rich sound and I really enjoyed them but when I rolled the Bugle Boys back in I found myself being more satisfied.

If you are waiting for new speakers I recommend you hold off on tube rolling until after they arrive.  I found tubes to be like ice cream flavors, some are better than others and in the end it is all about what you like.

Have fun!
