Klaus, amp question, but... not about my stratos.
« on: 15 Oct 2003, 12:47 am »
Klaus,

I am using my Stratos for 2 ch duty, & I just hooked up a new amp for center, suround, & sub duty. A Citation 5.1 4 channel @ 100w. Now I am noticing a slight "POP" from these speakers when selecting a different input, & also when selecting a chanel from dish network. It seems to happen momentarily when the RDC-7 locks onto an audio signal. The "POP" is not noticable from my main speakers which are driven by the Odyssey.

The Citation is a better amp than my previous Carver AV-505, it is much better at resolving low level detail. Maybe this "POP" was there all along, but the Carver was not revealing it.

Any Idea what would cause this? If there are steps to take to fix it?

Thanks

Sounds like an impedence match problem or a switch problem.  It might sound stupid,  but if the pop is indeed slight,  and doesn't jeopardize your speakers (judgement call on your side),  then I'd just live with it.

This is in the electronics,  and has nothing to do with any environmental doings.

Late,

Klaus

FYI

The output sensitivity on my pre amp is 470 ohms & the input sensitivity on the amp is 22K Ohms. Is this where my problem is?

input and output impedances you have should be fine.
