DAC for TV set?
« on: 13 Apr 2008, 06:26 pm »
I have a Sony Trinitron (6-8 years old) with Audio Out that I hook up as a source to my system for some shows. As expected the sounds not so great. Is this a job for a dac?
Anyone do this?
Thanks, Don

nodiak,do you use a set top cable box with its coax cable output going into your set as rf. My Scientific Atlanta set top box destroys the audio in the process of generating an rf signal to supply the digital channels above ch99. I switched to the Scientific Atlanta's audio output via the jacks on the rear and connect them to the audio inputs on the back of the set. I only use the coax rf for the picture. This results in a much better audio content with an actual stereo image on a lot of programing, this still allows me to use the bass and treble tone controls built set to help equalize the TV programs audio content.
