Need two balanced "Y" analog interconnects or splitters

Does anyone know a source for cheap balanced splitter interconnects?  I want to try an experiment which is run two amps off of one set of preamp outputs.  If it works then I will get some good cables made or jump the amp inputs inside.  The inputs are 10" apart so long splitters (after the split) would be helpful.  If they are too short then I could put them at the preamp and run a pair of balanced ICs between each splitter and each amp.  I have looked and looked and come up pretty empty.

If I am forced to DIY:

Is there something special at the "Y" like in a splitter for video coax?  Or is it only wire?  I have 4 male XLR plugs so what else do I need beside two female XLR plugs and some wire?  Wire recommendations appreciated.

Frank at Signal Cables will do custom work for a very reasonable price, excellent quality as well!

Thanks guys.

Opaqueice, I am embarrassed.  I thought I did my homework but I used Yahoo search, not Google.  Yahoo found me next to nothing.  It may have been my fault.  Maybe I did not enter the proper search parameters.

Other suggestions appreciated including a good source for quality splitters.  If I need a permanent pair I will first contact the maker of my current XLRs and see what they can do for me.

For experimenting my preference would be splitters that could connect two inputs 10.5" c/c.  The short Ys I have found so far would need to be placed at the preamp and two pairs of expensive interconnects used.   Y's with longer leads after the split could be placed at the amps and only one pair (which I already own) of expensive interconnects would be needed.
