Hi everyone,

I am a very happy CS2 owner with some questions for others who are using CS2s in a home theater or who have figured out how to.

I have been running 2 channel audio in my room which doubles for music & movies.

I am using a highly modified Behringer DCX 2496 (ASi custom mod) and Didden kit.  The sound is amazing and I will be writing more in another thread.

My question is how would it be possible to incorporate the CS2s w/ DCX2496 into a home theater system including additional speakers and a HDMI receiver that is able to take advantage of the new audio formats on Bluray?

I am running Odyssey Stratos Monoblocks for the LF & DIY Rawson built First Watt F3 for the HF and I am thrilled with what I am hearing.

I guess my thinking is that if I had a newer receiver like Onkyo 705, 805, 905 or Denon 3808, 4808 would I be able to make the system work for movies and then not have the receiver in the chain for 2 channel music.  I am guessing/hoping there is a pretty simple way to do this but I can't work out the details.

Thanks for any advice or pointers you might have.

Hi Nick,

You can run the front two channels from the pre-outs on the receiver to your Preamp and on to the Behringer.  The center can also run through the Behringer, but direct from the receiver pre-outs to the Behringer.  The other 2 or four channels can be powered by the receiver.   If you have a sub just for HT, it can run off the sub pre-out from the receiver.  It is all cleaner of you happen to have a HT pass-through on your pre-amp so that the pre-amp volume control is taken out of the path.  Otherwise, you need to chose a standard volume position like 12 0'clock for Ht use.

I may do the same thing.  I currently run my HT totally separately off a Yamaha receiver (rxv-3800).  I am going to wait to see what Clayton comes up with for a center channel first and also whether the CS-2' can replace most of the bass I get from my sub for that purpose.

I am very interested in your use of a F3 for the top end.  I have a used Rawson Aleph mini-J (about 15 watts) to try out on my CS-2's that arrive in about three weeks.  I am also thinking about trying the Red Wine Signature 30.2 for the top end.

I use a processor (not a receiver) and I have a preamp with a HT pass-through.  Even with a receiver you can use the front left and right pre-outs along with a preamp that has a HT pass through.   This is very convenient because you select the input that is configured for the pass through and it passes the signal to your receiver or processor at unity gain.  My CS2 speakers work well for both HT and 2 channel duty.
