Altmann BYOB vs Red Wine Audio Signature 30

Though I'm very pleased how my BYOB sounds now when I replaced the coupling cups for Mundorf Supreme, I'm curious about RW Signature 30. Anyone had a chance to listen these 2 neck to neck, how do they compare?

You might want to ask Pardales - drop him a PM.  He has had both in-house for a side-by-side comparison over the last month.  I believe he's got the updated Sig 30.2.  I think he can answer your question in some detail.

I had the BYOB alongside my 70.2s for a while.  I thought it was more energetic, with more top end sparkle.  But, I thought the presentation was more lightweight with significantly less bass.  The 70.2s are more resolved, though in a quiet way.  The 70.2s and probably 30 amps have much more drive.

Overall, the 70.2s are better amps.  From recollection, I think the 70s are better as well.  However, they are much more expensive.

My partial upgrade SIG 30.2 did have more bass weight and a fuller sound than the BYOB. I can certainly appreciate the above comments related to more energy and "top end sparkle" in the BYOB. As always, system dependency and personal preference is paramount. In my system I could not warm up to the sound of the partial 30.2. I did only have 200 hours on it, and it is possible it was not broken in enough. That said the characteristics I noticed seemed consistent throughout the break in and I felt pretty similarly about it at the end as I did in the beginning, across a two-week period of time.

It is not hard at all for me to understand why so many people love the 30.2. It does so many things so well it really stands out in the crowd.

I committed a cardinal sin - absolute and declarative statements.  Of course, system synergy and personal preference are paramount.  I should change my signature to include IMO, YMMV, views expressed don't necessarily represent those of the management, etc.   :D

This is probably a three way race with the third contender the Winsome Labs Mouse Amplifier see links below

The 6moons review gives all technical details concerning the design and the high current capabilities of the amp and its' ability to drive difficult low efficiency loudspeakers.
