I'll vouch for both Bill Berndt and for the JVC TT here.

This is likely one of JVC's finest 5 turntables they built (and as Panasonic's top-end division thru the 70's and 80's, that is a meaningful statement)....complete with FG Servo Direct Drive for minimalized speed issues and an electronic Q-damped, light-to-medium mass tonearm making mating with underdamped cartridges like Grado's and London Decca's near perfection.

The Plast-i-clay innards is a great upgrade....further isolating it from rumble and mechanical feedback.  Tho Bill seems to loathe pics (and not too forthcoming with important purchasing points  ), it is a very nice rosewood finish a la Denons of the day.

At this price, complete with Grado's top Prestige series cartridge and extra stylus, it should handily better anything within hundreds of dollars of it's cost new.  It is, by me, preferred over even the vaunted Technics SL-1200 MK. II...which retails for $300 w/o cartridge on the used market in decent shape.

It has adjustable VTA and headshell tilt functions to dial in the best geometry for tracking.  It's a winner...not sure what BB is moving to, but here is a dandy to buy  :thumb:

thanks John, moving on to pay property taxes. :duh:
#1 says all that gear in the closet is in the assets for sale column...  :o
I think my next vinyl step is galibier @ a rather larger value #, also want to build my own phono stage....
Cheers, Bill

Yeah, too much gear accumulated means it really ain't needed, BB.....let someone else enjoy it.

Someone will truly likely be floored by the performance on this really quite good JVC deck.  Someone's DAC will be placed on mute within 2 LP's of hearing what it can do.....replace the elliptical of the Grado Gold with a Shibata stylus and use a record cleaning machine and you will be richly rewarded with great sound for little cost.

As it's fully automatic, it relieves one of much of the drudgery of record players. Excellent speed sensitivity and a tremendously capable tonearm that mates with the Grado so well - is a beginners recipe for great vinyl.

Blimey John,

It's easy to see why you sell so many carts

I could end up with as many tts as Wayner if I listened to you.

But I agree, I can't believe this hasn't been snapped up yet.

If Mr. Bill Berndt would publish a pic it would be already likely have been snapped up by now (hint, hint )  The rosewood exterior would likely strongly compel someone to listen more attentively to the pitch on it.

In a world that is so frenetic, people just don't have the time to futz around and gather info...the more you supply them, the more likely one is to relieve them of their hard earned cash. That's my (largely-proven) theory anyway.

Besides Jim, I'm gonna' talk you into buying a Magna Cart one of these days.....it'll be in Costco UK locations in early August and you won't be able to resist it at that price  :thumb:

There - how's that for a gratuitous bump, Bill?
