WTB: Looking for good integrated amp.
« on: 4 Apr 2008, 05:09 pm »
Thought I'd see if anyone had anything interesting laying about. I am searching for the best solid state, remote controlled integrated amp I can find for under a grand. Will be used to drive a pair of KEF XQ5 floorstanders in a fairly large room. Anyone have anything interesting? Let me know.

I have a BVAudio A300SE that's no longer in use, a fine integrated...

Not sure what you're after, but a receiver might be cheaper.  HK sells factory refurbs.

May want to pm christof(sp?).  Chris had a very nice Electrocompaniet integrated amp that he was selling for somewhere around a grand.  Not sure if it is still around though?

funny you should mention that.  my first choice would be anything w/tubes, but if i had to go s/s, i would go w/electrocompaniet.  if you can do hybrid (tube pre-s/s amp), there was a cool pathos classic one mkll listed f/s today on agon; at $1k it's prolly awreddy gone, lol!  it would be worth it, even if ya never turned it on!   :green:

one other thought - at that price, ($1k), you could get a mint refurb'd/modded vintage sansui - like an au717, for example - and have money left over.  hard to beat at anything near the price.  extremely flexible, too, w/pre outs & main inputs...

I've got a Musical Fidelity A3.5 in mint condition for sale.  Have the box, packing, manual and remote.  There's not a mark on it.  Great sounding amplifier.  I decided to upgrade to a power/pre combination.  I'd like to get $800 for it.  Retailed for $1600.

ECI-3...nice integrated, planned to use it in my gallery but I'll still let it go for $1K

I seem to remember you're near Baltimore - have a nice 60lbs integrated that I could drop off.  Opera Consonance - especially amazing mid range - see my add here.  Best amp I've heard under 1K, and I'll cut you a deal if I don't have to pack it and gamble with UPS.

My current Alons are 90dB efficient and they can get quite loud with this amp.

Not sure if you want tubes or solid state - here is a solution, have both. I have an Opera Consonance A120.  Its a 90wpc SS with a 6H30 preamp section.  One of the best integrateds I've heard unless you want to spend 2 or 3 times as much.  It has a remote and the one I have is new in the box, never used. I have two.  Mine came from a friend that used to be a dealer.  He also uses the A120 in his main system with Spendors.  So, my extra one is available - new in the box, never plugged in.  I believe they listed for around $1200-1300.  Asking $700.
