Quick question... I have a Chime DAC that I am now feeding directly into my Quad 12L active monitors. Those speakers have a current sensing input that turns the internal amps on when music starts playing.
The problem is that my Chime has some turn-on noise. I'd like to mute the output while I'm turning it on. The most neutral way to do this is to just bring the output to ground when in mute mode. Has anyone done this? Will playing the Chime for any period of time with the outputs shorted hurt it? I ask because I'm sure at some point I'll forget to switch the mute off.
I have the same question in relation to my Clarinet preamp... which is sometimes in the chain depending on whether or not I have a turntable in that system.
Thanks in advance!
