FYI, Just got off the phone with the folks at Wyred 4 sound and at this point they don't have a trail period for their amps. Maybe down the road when they have more stock?

I'm sorry to inform you that we cannot offer the trial as of right now on the monos due to the high demand and lack of product :(.  As soon as our new batch of chassis come in, we will be doing so :thumb:.  We do offer it on the Multichannel right now.

Thank you,

I am currently using a Wyred 4 Sound amp that I purchased from Underwood Hifi - www.underwoodhifi.com; 770.667.5633.  Walter Liederman is great to deal with and is the ONLY dealer for Wyred 4 Sound products.

I bought a 4-CH amp for use with my CS2's.  It has two 250W modules and two 150W(?) modules.  I have not had a chance to hook up the CS2's with it yet as I am still scrambling to find my extra XLR cables, but I AM running the 250W modules to drive my Greybeard KB/3/3's 4ohm nominal (90dB) and 20-20Khz flat response.  These things are FANTASTIC.  Also, at $2495 for a 4CH amp with THAT much power, you really can't go wrong.

As far as listening goes, so far, with my big Greybeards being driven by only 2CH of the amp, via the 250W modules, I am VERY impressed.  Bass is thunderous and controlled.  Highs sparkle with no fatigue and the noise floor is NON-EXISTANT.  We are driving the amp with our own tube equipment.  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Thanks,

Dan W.
President, ModWright Instruments Inc.

Thank you Dan, we appreciate all of your input!  I'm glad you are really enjoying the amplifier, really means something coming from another company in the industry.

Bravo!  Total honesty is unusual in this business.  To say that you use the differential fet front end to raise the impedance and soften and "naturalify" (just made it up) the slightly bright and edgy sound of the ICE module is really direct and truthful.  I cannot ever remember any other manufacturer being so direct and real about their design.

I am constantly telling my customers that this is an "ART" where you have to balance the sound of one thing with another.

May your ART and science bring you much prosperity!

Hi mca,

I couldn't help to notice the picture of the boxers.  Aren't they the best pets.  After having one, I think we're set on getting many more in the future.

Bump.....would love to hear if this comparison has been done somewhere. If wyred4sound is as good as they say......I will soon be ready to pull the trigger on their 500watt monos.

Any chance of a 500 watt stereo model that's close in price to your 200 watt stereo amp?

Hi,

I'll alter my question.  Has anyone compared a Wired 4 Sound amplifier with a ps audio hca - 2 in stock form or modified?

Speakers: Usher – 6371
CD Player: Jolida – JD 100 (RCA Tubes)
Preamp: Cary – Tube
Amplifier: Wyred4Sound – 200S – FET – No Op-Amp
Power Cables: Morrow - MAP2
Extra Power Cables: Shunyata - Diamondback
IC: DH Labs – Revelation – Silver Core
Speaker Cable: Clear Day – Silver Core
AC Receptacle: Oyaide SWO-GX
Electricity: Dedicated 20 Amp. Power Line & Ground (16 foot Copper rod)

I’m finally taking the time to put my two pennies on the board. I want to share my discovery with fellow audiophiles in cyberspace.

Not long ago, I purchased Wyred4Sound stereo amplifier (200S – 125 watts output).  I have been hearing so many good things about D class amplifiers. I decided to give it a try. After a long research, Wyred4sound caught my attention not only because the company works with PS Audio, but also it is one of premier custom modifications centers in the country, if not the world.

My budget was limited at the time, so I purchased the stereo amp. When the amp finally arrived home double boxed, I could not believe how lite and small the amplifier was. The small size was very much welcome after a long time dealing with my 100 pound Krell amp. The primary reason for such small size is the amp’s state of the art ICE technology. The overall feel and quality of parts was well above the amp’s price point.

I was excited to hear what this little amp could do. I popped in a “Cowboy Junky” cd. All I can say is “! WOW!! WOW!! WOW!” I could not believe my ears on how good it sounded right out of the box.

After about 300 hours or so the amp really warmed up. I can safely say that ”the amp gives a tube like sound”, but with a lot more authority. The bass was strong and detailed. Many tube amps lack that authoritative bass. The amp has the speed and resolution of a solid state amplifier that would cost three to four times as much. I really don’t see anyone going wrong with Wyred4Sound amps.
This amp has that special something that most of audiophiles are looking for - its “musicality”.

Do yourself a favor and audition one of Wyred4Sound amps. I assure you, you will not be disappointed. From what I have been told, the more powerful mono amplifiers sound even better.

I don't doubt that the Wyred's sound fantastic, and I can see them in my future.

However I am curious as to your motives as you created a very similar post in the Nuforce board a while back, causing the mods to send it the the IGWB.  Then you never post again, but using the same user name you come back three months later to repeat the one post you had in the past?  http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=59919.msg533628

To me, you cause speculation and make a great product look bad from a business perspective.

Hang around awhile and offer up some intellectual conversation and establish an identity,  it may help your ulterior motives.

For what its worth I compared a couple pairs of icepower amps using the 200asc (200wpc @ 4ohm) modules to a pair of Nuforce 8.02s.  Much preferred the icepower.  I felt the bass was tighter w/ not as bright highs.  Spatial cues were much better, with things like room echoes being more pronounced.  I also was surprised how warm the 8.02s ran, and how noisy when nothing was playing.  I could hear noise through my speakers from 6ft away, while with icepower they are dead silent.

Eventually went with a pair of EVS 500Ms using the icepower 1000asp modules and never looked back.
