I am looking for maplshade brass footers and maple platforms.  I've purchased some new, but am interested in saving money.  I help you/you help me sort of thing.

Thanks,

Tom

Consider getting the Myrtle feet with brass tips. They are great.

For your maple platforms, try taking a look at Timbernation.com. Chris can save you 1/2 the price and you have a choice of horizontal or vertical grain platforms in a variaty of thickness and finish. I have both in my system. I bought my Mapleshade before discovering Chris Futrick's Timbernation.  :thumb:

I own both timbernation boards and mapleshade boards.     I like the quality of the TN boards, and especially the price...but they sound quite dull in comparison to mapleshade's.  I have both Tiger maple and the standard maple TN boards.   I also have both the 2" thick and 4" thick Mapleshade boards.

Just my opinion.

I think any system incorporating vibration draining scheme's can benefit from a bit of both plat mfgrs...

I'd never put a TN board under a turntable, but they do just fine sitting on the carpet under my amp and underneath my power strp.

those funky wooden footers look cool saisunil!!!

Solid maple seems to sound much better than laminated butcher block type construction. That's why Mapleshade uses as wide material that they can.

Thanks for your tips and advice!  My three favorite compulsions are the band the Replacements, Goodwill shopping and stereo equipment.  and additional ideas will be also appreciated.

I've experimented with lots of different maple and I think the main reason why the Mapleshade stuff sounds so much better than the the others is the drying process. Kiln dried wood has a different cellular structure than air dried, it tends to close up when it's dried too quickly. I do believe TN is now offering air dried maple too, so you might want to look into that.

Does that go on top or on the bottom of a Mapleshade platform?
