It has been a while since I have posted here and the last time I was involved with GAS was during Denver's RMAF.  Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy listening to my system while relaxing in the sweet spot.

I wanted to give you an update on my progress.  I have made a lifestyle change and decided to get rid of my gut and butt not only for health reasons but also to get into better shape as Summer approaches.  On the 27th of September, 2007 I decided to no longer be an out of shape and overweight individual, got up off my ass, got my diet together and joined a gym.  Well it is almost 6 months since then and I must say I am doing pretty well.
I am enclosing a picture of my progress.  I take pictures every month on the same day and time and Thursday I will be taking another one.  I keep a journal of my daily progress on a fitness website, I have been fortunate to run into many great people who have made my transformation possible. From fitness trainers to nutritionists, many of these individuals were very helpful in my endeavor.

Here is my monthly progress picture. Due to the size of the picture, I linked it instead of putting it up as I didn't want to overwhelm your displays.

So, go to your freezer, grab one of those frozen things, get comfortable and read all about my "NO EXCUSES" transformation. Click on the link below  and scroll down.  There are several pages to the thread... I am not done yet, I have a few more months of hard work ahead of me but I am confident I can do it!

http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/showthread.php?t=40661

Thank you for taking the time to read my journal. Feel free to forward the link to anyone you feel may be interested.  Also, if you need some tips on shedding some pounds or help with choosing healthier foods just let me know.

Pete,
That's some transformation.  We need you to get back in our listening sessions so you can motivate us all.  Great job :thumb:

You are due a huge pat on the back. My wife competed last year in body building and figure so I fully understand how much hard work and dedication you've put in to your new look. That's the last time I complain about my 4 thirty minute sessions a week on the bike. Well done

Thanks!

Me too, I approached this with a sensible goal in mind and promised myself that I would not go into starvation to lose weight.  I think that this is a common mistake that a lot of people make.  They shed a lot of weight quickly by starving themselves and as soon as they introduce normal food back into their bodies the weight comes back and then some.

Thank you! Yes, I attending some more listening sessions would be a blast.

The last one was as Scotts and I remember he  ordered Bandanas!!  Oh how I wanted to stick around and sample some of those wonderfully smoked meats but I had to stick to my meal plan and pass.

I do remember your post regarding your wife's competition.  There are several competitive body builders on the site whom I owe a lot to.  These individuals eat, breathe and sleep bodybuilding and have helped me tremendously throughout the past few months with food, timing of my meals and exercise plans.  Now that I know what kind of commitment and discipline is necessary to obtain desired results, you my friend deserve a pat on the back.  Do you and your wife eat the same things?  My girlfriend thought I was nuts for waking up one day and saying "enough is enough". Since we both love food she didn't think I would stick to my plan.  Here it is 6 months later and she has lost a LOT of fat and turned her body into a lean and mean work of art.  She thanks me daily for helping her get back in shape.

Thanks Set Man!

Yes, it took a lot of will power to change my bad habits. Overnight, I stopped eating out, drinking beer and alcohol and started keeping tabs on my calories.  I joined a gym and followed suggested training plans I found on the web.  The rest as they alway say "is history"
Besides grinding away in the gym every morning at 5 AM, the toughest part is preparation of my daily meals.  I try to get them done 2 to 3 days in advance so that all I have to do is pack up my cooler and I am out the door.

5-7 pounds should be a breeze for ya!  All you have to do is "do it"!  :D

Hey Docutech,

Great job  :thumb:

Laura and I just started our journey. We need to take our 'fat' pictures and get a real scale so we can map our progress. We aren't doing the gym thing though. We picked up an elliptical and a stationary bike along with some Spri's for strength training. I've converted the Redrum into an exercise room. Our routine starts immediately after we wake up. We head down to the Redrum and start working out each morning, 7 days a week.

Since we are both so out of shape we're starting out slow just doing 30 minutes (15 on each machine) until we get used to getting our heart rates up. No need to drop over dead prematurely. After next week we'll start increasing the levels on the machines and extending our time down there.

...and yes, the Altec VOTT's and 2A3 are still in there  :green: We added a small flat screen so we can watch the morning news and videos on the weekends while we work out. Talk about a 2 channel home theatre

Great, just great.

Now I have Pop-Tart guilt

No worries  :thumb: Lets see, one pop tart slathered with butter is probably worth ....oh....400 calories. That means for two I'll end up spending about an hour each on the elliptical trying to work them off  :o It'll be worth it though

Good morning Scott!

Glad to hear you made a decision to get in shape!  Remember, set realistic goals and work towards achieving them.  Keep at it and dont get discouraged. Changes will come and you will see results for sure. I love the elliptical. It is low impact yet it can get my heart rate into the mid 180 bpm.  Many awesome workouts have happened on the elliptical.  Good luck and let me know if I can help you in any way.  I am willing to share what I have learned throughout these past 6 months.

...oh, and please leave the pop tarts alone! :)
