Hello all,
I need (want) to convert all the jacks on my outboard crossover to rca or xlr. What are the benefits of one over the other, if any?
thanks in advance

I think you'll want to use RCAs. First, they fit in the same-size hole, second, not much point in going for XLRs if you don't have balanced circuits I don't think.

thanks john.
So if a circuit is balanced on one end but not the other, overall it is not balanced at all?  Therefore dont bother, right?

Yes, that's true I believe.

A balanced input can still provide common mode rejection even when driven with a single ended output. Chassis ground loops etc are still avoided, especially if using a transformer input. This is good if the units are plugged at different locations like across the room.
