What's the difference between the regular and special edition interconnects?

I have no idea what the difference is.  They look a bit thinner maybe, and a slightly different shade of red with the same connectors as the reg version. You might try asking Greg @ reality.

I've got a set of SE's and Gregg tells me the difference is that the SE's have the same wire type as the regular ic's but from a different manufacturer.  He felt they sounded better than the regulars, but as he put it, "I'd have to buy enough wire for three lifetimes to make the changeover".  Terrific cables...
