I have just bought an MP3 player for a birthday present for my 14 yo.
Does any know af a good and easy to use software to convert his CD's to MP3?
All the ones I have found so far on the net are so complicated I cannot figure out how to do it.

At work I use Musicmatch Jukebox to rip cds to mp3s and it works pretty well. It's set up like a tape recorder, you put you cd into the cd-rom and press the record button. It'll rip the songs and place them in it's music library. You can set it up to rip at various bit rates if you choose or just take the defaults. You can download the basic version and try it for free at

I definately second the MMJ recommendation; best ripper out there, at least for the non-gearhead. When I decided a while back that I wanted to start playing with MP3, I found MMJ the easiest to use and it's very full featured, too.

MMj is great at ripping easy and fast. For the audiophiles here I have found that Media Jukebox has an advanced setting where you can set quality to high. I always rip at 320 kb in either one. It is much slower than MMJ but squeezes out that last scintilla of sound.
