I bought these from a fellow in Europe with whom I have had a decent tube buying relationship. He claimed they are NOS, but as you can never be too sure of that I originally figured they were slightly used. But as indicated in the sale listing I saw absolutely no getter flash when I looked at them again more carefully, so I'm suspecting they really are NOS (as opposed to slightly used).

Sorry to let them go but I need the cashola, and I already have a very nice NOS pair in use!

Do they have the <> diamond on the bottom? That would tell you they are real Telefunkens made by telefunken. Otherwise they could have been latter ones made by other Manufacturers for Telefunken.

I just bought a pair of real Telefunken ECC801S on Ebay for my Manley Shrimp preamp. The difference between the Telefunken and the NOS Mullards I was using was night and day!!! Unbelievable improvement everywhere. Just a great 12AT7 tube in my preamp.

I'm already using them in my 550 with a back up pair in stock.  aa  I just brought it up to comfirm if they were in fact NOS. Haven't ever heard of counterfeits with the diamond.

My friend in EU is pretty reliable, but with tubes this old I always take the NOS claim with a grain of salt. When I got these they didn't come from one of his usual sources, so I erred on the side of figuring they may not be NOS. It's only when I took a close look at the tubes and saw clear glass around the getter that I figured they are very likely NOS. Never doubted them being genuine TKFs, though.
