Howdy all:

Do you know of any amps that offer USB inputs.

I would like to consider one for my computer setup.

Thanks for any help.

Are you still planning to use your Metric Halo ULN-2 in the path?

KingRex T20U.

I'd recommend the optional analog power supply.

Thanks guys:

I did find the King-Rex, but you beat me to it, also there is the Nuforce Icon found here  http://www.nuforce.com/Product-desktop.htm.

I will let the cat out of the bag here and tell you I am in line for a pair of the SP Mini's. So power is nice. Mind you these will be my computer, mixing, speakers and I will be about one meter away from them.

Low, I have the ULN-2 in the main rig, and also have a MH 2882 and could use it as well. I just like the idea of simplicity, so I thought I would look around at the USB thing.

Russel: are you running your MH 2882 into your NuForce amps at +4 db out of the MH? I am experiencing some sort of clipping in my system and am trying to trouble shoot.

Why limit yourself to an amp with direct USB input?  In general, they just use the same USB->analog or sometimes USB->digital->DAC chips that an external soundcard/USB DAC does.  I'd say you should get a USB soundcard or DAC and whatever amp you want.

Scott Faller reviewed this unit and seemed to enjoy it:

A tube amp with somewhat low power but he drove 86dB speakers to 95dB in room, should easily be enough for nearfield use.

I'm going out of analog outs 1&2 at -10 dB with -2dB of trim.

I was eyeing up the glow. Six Moons gave it a great review. Also has a DAC in it.

Russell:

If I go out of the MH at -10 I don't have enough gain for loud. At 4 db is when I hear some clipping when quite loud, but I would think the Mcalister PP150 would go louder, so I don't think that is the issue. I'll have to do some more trouble shooting.
