Selling this not quite finished pair of Tekton Designs Mini-Pipes. Speakers are 44-1/2" tall from bottom of base, 7-1/4" wide, 8-1/4" deep at the bottom, 3" deep at the top. base is 9" wide x 12-/1/2" deep and 1.5" thick. Driver sits 30" to center, from bottom of base. And the whole thing sits on 4 adjustable 1.5" black chrome spikes.
There are no binding posts -- instead there is a 1/4" hole in the back of each speaker for hard-wiring. Binding posts of almost any kind can be added if desired. A pair of factory assembled BSC compensation networks are included, and can optionally be installed by the new owner.
Two pairs of modified FE-127 drivers are included at the asking price. One is a pair from a pair of Omegas that got replaced with the hemp drivers, and the others are a modified and EnABLed pair from Planet10 HiFi. These Planet 10 drivers are the ones that came in second place behind the ones they now sell for $250 a pair, and Dave says these are 95% of the ones being sold. The Tekton cabinets can also easily accommodate the Fostex FX-120s if you want to try those. All the included drivers have plenty of playing time on them and will only need a little play time before they are fully broken-in.
I've never listened to these so I can't tell you what they sound like, but the cabinets are very well built, and the other Tekton Designs built speakers are said to be very good.
These will appeal most to DIY types who want a nice pair of SD speakers to try, and I want to be very clear about this -- they need to have drivers and wiring, and optionally binding posts and BSC circuits installed by the new owner. For speakers and wiring only, this means 4 screws to mount each driver -- pilot holes are drilled), and soldering some speaker wires to the speakers and running them through the opening on the back. The BSC and/or binding posts will obviously be more work than that. The BSCs are included, the binding posts are not (and if you go the binding post route, the Cardas patented types would be a great choice.) I do have sets of all-copper Cardas patented, Edison-Price (cryoed), and Eichmann cable pods I can sell you with the speakers (but only with the purchase of the speakers) at an appropriate additional cost, and I can include a couple lengths of teflon CAT-5 wire for the asking.
Price for the works -- cabinets, spikes, BSCs, 4 drivers will be an incredibly low $375 shipped in lower 48. The only caveat is that it may take up to two weeks to get an appropriate shipping box. I'm fanatical about proper packing, especially with speakers, so I don't want to just throw them in any old box. Drivers and extra parts will come in a separate box. I need to move thes out to make room for the zigmahornets that are almost done, and the custom F-120a Fonkens that will eventually be the main speakers in this small office space.
