First off, manufacturers have to build products to a price point.

Yes. Even $7000 price points, which apparently still precludes any clever power supply upgrades.

Almost all gear can be improved upon by carefully upgrading or changing parts.  I want to stress "carefully"...just putting in boutique or more expensive parts doesn't guarantee an improvement.

At the very least, it is interesting that manufacturers don't appear to understand this simple concept, and only the modders do.

Secondly, yes, it could cause a big price increase.  This price increase might push the product out of its sweet spot and impact sales in a negative fashion.

Then maybe some of them should consider foregoing some of the more frivolous expenditures that don't impact the sound, to rein in costs.

Yes indeed!  :D
As in "Hear hear" ... if we only change it to Hair hair, we can add the need for conditioner...
(Imperial splitting a few...)

Ok, getting back to topic here on a more serious level..
I believe that the ac wiring in a house should be looked at first.
Most amps will work just fine connected to such an optimized grid!
Then again, noise may be inevitable for some reason...
Appliances, kitchen or bathroom or other make noise, it could be from you neighbour as well this noise!
And it may be more expensive to fix the house grid than to get a PLC ...
Then we are talking! Not splitting them ends anymore.
So, seeing the whole picture makes also the wallet happy!
Maybe you need another amp.. the one you got will require much cash to be quiet.. that could be the case! (Not an answer to K.C - but as a possible option, maybe)
And other scenarios also!

And a note to K.C:  That RM9 depending on what version could be improved by upgrading the caps.
All over the place really, power and coupling and driver and so on.. I remember reading about that.
Could be a viable option for that better sound..

Yeah and the Counterpoint 220 also have (proven) upgrades that can be added.
This is improving then the internal psu in these cases - which is always good.
