I'll be as vague as possible, but.......
« on: 13 Mar 2008, 06:44 pm »
Hey GAS guys I have question for you. There's a male vocalist that plays acoustic guitar in a live setting singing a song about something nautical.
Who is that?
I've heard it at Scott's house, Alan's house, and I think Bryan has it too.

Sorry to be vague, but I'm hanging out in the music section of eBay and have money burning a hole in my pocket.

Also.....Who's the guy singing with the voice deeper than James Earl Jones?
You know who I mean.... the REAAAAL deep voice.

Thanks guys,
Bob

Don't know about the nautical thing - sorry.  The one live cut with male and guitar I can think of that is used is the Nils Lofgren cut off the NYAR 2006 disk.  Song title is "Keith Don't Go".

The real deep voice you're thinking of is on the Fairfield Four album

The song is "These Bones"

Seven minutes to reply Bryan? You must've been going potty.
NYAR disc huh...... Now HOW would a fellow get his hands on a copy of this little gem?
I know eBay is out of the question.

Fairfield Four, that sounds right. Thank you. Extra points for the link!

Actually, thanks for the very speedy reply Bryan!

We'd have to negotiate...  Next weekend - basketball tourney and a couple beers at the local watering hole?

Sounds like a plan Bryan.
The beers at the watering hole sounds good, but the ball thing doesn't 'flip my wiggles' much.
Hell, I owe ya' more than a couple beers for all you've done.

When you say 'next', you mean the 22nd/23rd?
I think the wife has plans (without me) the next couple Saturday/Sundays, so anythime "should" be OK.
Got anyplace in mind?

Yeah 22nd I think (Sat).

There's a new place out by me that has good food and they'll have something else on if BBall isn't your thing.  I think there's close to 40 flat screens in there - Indigo Joe's.  Give me a call and we'll figure something out.

Hey Bob:

Can't be sure, but we might have been playing Jackson Browne  / Solo Acoustic.   You'll have to give Scott credit if this is the one.   :)
I bought it after hearing his copy at Steve's one night.

Hi Alan, thanks for the reply.
I don't think it was Jackson Browne. When I asked the name of the singer, the name didn't sound familiar.

I thought of some more hints:
- I may be making up that whole 'nautical' thing, but I thought the song was something about ships or sailing...maybe.
- The song was recorded live in a very small venue. We all remarked about how amazingly quiet the audience was during the song. It was only after he had finished singing and they applauded, did you find out it was a live recording.

That help at all?

Bob,

With my memory...... :slap:   I really wasn't at all sure.   I'd trust Bryan's response.    It seemed that I had just bought the Jackson Browne CD about the time you came over.

No problem Alan, I certainly appreciate the effort/attempt. My memory isn't the greatest either so I can't fault you there.

Bryan, apparently I don't have your number after all.

Thank you for the confirmation Scott. Maybe that whole nautical thing was buried deep down in my subconscience.
