I just sold one of these on audiogon. It's the newest edition of the Ultrapath. The buyer said it has some aftermarket mods. I have no idea. It's a piece of wood inbetween the batteries held by 2 screws through the bottom plate. The wood is a perfect fit between the 2 batteries and looks to keep them from moving side to side and is the color of the outer case. The unit was factory assembled.

Is this a stock part?

I have pics if that will help.

I don't think that is a mod. The pre is DIY assembled by Ron and using the wood to separate the batteries is something I recall seeing when someone posted pics of the assembly. Call or e-mail Ron.

Do you have his number? It's not listed on the website.

Good luck getting in touch with Ron.  Maybe since you're not asking for anything other than some simple info he'll get back to you, but the complaints from his recent customers have been pretty bad.

The guy is complaining about an extra piece of wood in a DIY electronics project???  That's like complaining about extra floor mats in a car.

Not only is he complaining about it. He wants to send it back to me, after it has been damaged by fedex, he's had it for over a month, won't file a damage claim or even consider the piece was factory installed, opened it up, and wants all his money back. :o The unit was factory assembled and the piece has a perfect reason for being there. I told him I thought it was a factory assembeled piece put there to keep the batteries some moving around. He told me I was a a-hole and to f-off and die.

Sounds like someone I once attempted to do business with.  Never again.

Is he an AC member?

Actually, you were/are the one that has to make the claim with FedEx. He has had it a month?  :duh: :duh: :duh:

I called fedex, and they said either one us could start the claim.
