XRS and upgraditis

Yep, I saw that burl laminate and started to wonder, too...

I love my XRS/Deep Hemp combo and will not get rid of the XRSs, but what about...what about...what about multiplying my enjoyment?

And so one of those questions that I know many of us don't like--myself included--but since we're among those who've drunk Louis's Kool Aid I'll ask with some degree of hope that I won't get shouted down: anyone out there do much a/b ing of the XRs's vs. the Compact or Super Hemps?

If the smaller hemp driver can sound so big, am wondering what the bigger driver can do. There are times--increasingly few--when I think the smaller driver sounds slightly choked or tight still, and this after hundred and hundreds of hours of play. This is not annoying or bad and happens mostly when I crank it up on heavy sax music or bitty-sounding lead guitars. The speakers are otherwise so enjoyable and pleasant that I recognize some degree of ridiculousness in my request, but I'm throwing it out there anyhow...

I look forward to your responses.

Depending on how much you can bring your speakers out into the room, (5 feet from the back of the speaker) the Dipole/Bipole XRS's are a killer!  This would directly address the issue you brought up.
I have heard a rumor that Louis may be coming out with 6" drivers.
I don't know if you have stated this previously, and if you did I apologize, but adding a second DeepHemp is a significant upgrade.

Hi ikakenewa and ZLS,

Thanks and a second Deephemp makes a bid difference. Stereo Bass and you can keep them close to the main speakers.

The Dipole is a great upgrade from the XRSs and if you haven't any space issues a great way to go.

Thanks,
Louis
