Anybody use the inexpensive Goldwood GW-GW-8003 8" full range driver in OB? This driver has a rubber surround and is only $19.50 each with a high QTS of 1.07 and 2mm of xmax and a FR of 50hz-20,000khz.Seems to be a good candidate for OB.

I prefer a durable rubber surround as much as the next guy, but in terms of frequency response, you will be much better off with the tried-and-true Pioneer B20:  http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=290-045.  Only a few bucks more.  FWIW Nelson Pass (and others) loves this driver.  Do a search for the Pioneer B20 on the Fullrange forum over at DIY Audio.

Per the frequency plots provided, that Goldwood driver will need significant filtering in the midrange to keep from sounding nasty.  Compare the plots--they tell you lots!

Sure, the Goldwood might get you a little more bass, but any 8" fullrange driver on OB is going to need an augmenter woofer at some point.  If you do try the Goldwood, let us know what you find out.
