Do you know if the analog is better than the digital, or are they equivalent? Can either be used with the Rives CD? Thanks,

Having looked into this meter recently, the web word is that the older analog version of this meter is much better than the current digital version.  I recommend you verify my impression.  I seem to recall the microphone and electronics provided a much more accurate response in the older version.

The analog units are amazingly identical in their accuracy from unit to unit and year to year as well.  There is a "googleable" (that a word?) correction table, mostly for the lowest octaves,  that should be used if the utmost accuracy is important.

A spl meter is nearly essential for any audiophile, especially those who play in the efficient speaker/small amp end of the pool.  You will quickly "calibrate" your ear to the varying spls.  When used with test tones, you'll also get a very useful handle on what you're hearing (or more importantly, not hearing).

Radioshack now has both an analog and digital version of this meter. I bought the digital one and was wondering if it was a good as the analog, especially with the Rives CD.
