Blu Ray player with 5.1 analogue outputs..
« on: 27 Feb 2008, 11:54 pm »
My B&K AVR isn't capable of processing the new hi res audio formats plus I don't want to part with it via upgrade.  I am looking for a the best cost-effective BluRay player which has internal hi res audio processing and the 5.1/7.1 outputs.  I would appreciate opinions on this.
Thanks in advance.

I think the Panasonic DPM-BD50 will fit your need, when it's available.

Plus, it'll be the first stand alone 2.0 player.

My AVR is a B&K with none of the hi-rez processing so I will need the BluRay player to do that.  So that's one set of 5.1 analog inputs but I will have second input from my trusty Sony SACD player.  What would be the harm in simply Ying the two 5.1 inputs together to my B&K?  Would that screw up the input impedance somehow?  I have found only 1 5.1 audio switcher and it is very expensive so thought installing Y RCA adapters may do the trick.  Opinions please...thx.
