I am thinking of selling my beloved modified AI M2D. This awesome Tube preamp is a great addition to a system to enjoy music. The 2D was modified by EVS, a former employee of AI. The basic mod gives greater left to right separation, better imaging, depth, focus, ambiance inner detailing, transient responce, clarity, treble extension, dynamic contrasts, complex music handling cababilities and tighter bass The One plus Mod really makes the music shine. The Power supply has been removed and housed in a separate supply box. A 2nd transformer was included which makes the preamp much faster, cleaner, more focused, quieter with super palpable imaging and separating of instruments. And additional 20,000 uF is added to the heater supply for tighter deeper, warmer bass. A pair of Alps mono pots were added to really give smooth control.
I am moving toward a HT system so I have outgrown this unit. The phono section comes in really nice for those who still play there beloved LP's I have not used this 2D a lot over the last decade so it is in excellent shape. The giant killer from the day is much better and really assures your decision to use a tube preamp over a solid sate unit.
