The House of Guitars,  you'll never forget it.   Have a couple of hours and bring your sense of humor,  they have tons of music,  much of it in boxes just laying around.   Last time I was there I picked up a ton of cheap Telarc (on cd though) from boxes that hadn't been touched since the 80's, crazy.   If you're in the city,  take Hudson Ave.  all the way to Irondequoit 'till you can't go any further,  and take a right.   When you're done you can go eat lunch or dinner right next door at Irondequoit Hots and get a wannabe "Garbage Plate" meal,  a Rochester curiosity.

Well so far I have been to Bop Shop, Record Archive, and Lake Shore Exchange.  I will have to try the guitar shop.  I mentioned to a guy I am working with that I went to 2 record stores last night and he said I could I could have all his old records if I wanted. :thumb:

Yes that's Nick Tahoes he's referring to.   I agree the neighborhood there is not good,   but if you go before 7 pm you'll be fine.   As teenagers we used to go there drunk after midnight and never had any problems.

So I am going through the security checkpoint with a bunch of Japanese mono pressings and the security guy says to me hey give me your e-mail my sister wants to give away her vinyl collection of 60s and 70s rock music. Got to love it!

Sounds like you had some success, next time in town, hopefully it's warmer, head down to "Seabreeze" and have a dog and a burger @ "Don's Original" (formely Don & Bobs) the area was the place to be when I was a kid.

when i spent a year in rochester in 83 there was a great record store that im sure has gone the way of the rest....i think it was a the record barn or something like it. They had a sick motown area if im not mistaken

nick tohoes,,,,now thats a name ive not heard in long time. Will never forget the night i saw someone punched out there, the victim stayed on the floor throughout my meal.  LOL those were the days, cold beans called a garbarge plate
