DirecTV Coaxial or Optical?
« on: 20 Feb 2008, 05:40 pm »
The manual recommends optical, and says it gives true Dolby digital. However I believe coaxial is much better, we all know why. I am wondering how this could be? (looking into it for someone else)

I believe coax is better also but unfortunately I have some sort of interference when using the coax with the signal momentarily cutting out every 30 seconds,,,, very very annoying. I don't have this issue with the optical connection so,,,,,. But if I could find a way around this audio cutout, I'd go back to my Pulsar in a heartbeat.

Cheers,

I've heard of cordless phone systems that have multiple handsets having this issue. Apparently some base units are "looking" for their handsets to communicate 'stuff'. Mine does, but doesn't seem to interfere with anything.

I use optical for my DirecTv.
